Once around the world

It was 2003 when we first traveled together to India. Many more trips followed, taking us on a discovery journey to the most curious corners of this world. Traveling with our kids turned out to be even more fun. And we are now getting ready to embark on the next family adventure - our around the world trip.

Follow our journey

South Africa / April 2023

Desert dunes, powdery beaches star-studded night skies, jagged mountains – South Africa is the place to go wild.

Australia / May 2023

A country of contrasts: where the world's oldest cultures share vast ochre plains, lush forests and impossibly blue waters.

Japan / June 2023

Japan is truly timeless, a place where ancient traditions fuse with modern life, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

Hawaii / July 2023

Hawaii has become synonymous with paradise. Sugary beaches, coral reefs and volcanoes, all shared with warm alohas.

Costa Rica / August 2023

Costa Rica, the "rich coast" is the land of plenty. From the tropical jungle to the paradise beaches: Costa Rica is wildlife heaven for nature lovers.

Bucket list? We’ve got one…

01

Have some kids.

We’ve got two - Smilla & Raoul.

02

See all new seven world wonders.

Almost there. Great Wall of China, Chichen Itza, Machu Pichu, Christ the Redeemer, Colosseum, Petra.

03

Learn Hindi.

04

Start a humanitarian project in India.

05

Catch the Aurora Borealis.

The Northern Lights showed up in Tromso and while it was cold, it was pretty magical.

06

Around the world trip with the kids.

We’re lucky enough to make this one-in-a-lifetime-experience right now.

07

Learn to sail and own a sailing boat.

There is still time.

08

Learn to dive.

In 2007 we got the Open Water Diver Certification at the Aeolian Islands. We never went diving again ever since.

09

Own a Masseria in Puglia.

10

Sleep on a tree house in Hawaii.

Aloha.

11

Float in the dead sea.

Nope, we weren’t reading a newspaper while floating.

12

Learn to dance Tango in Buenos Aires.

Yeah ok, the course was in Zurich and we never really finished all classes, but that’s why we’re still married today. Seriously, have you ever noticed how many couples argue during dance classes? So we guess, that’s off our list anyway.

14

Watch the sunset in Petra.

15

Hold a tarantula in my bare hand.

While traveling in Costa Rica a 7 years old girl showed me her pet. I bet, you can guess which animal it was.

16

Meet David Copperfield in Las Vegas

Yup, he made Maree disappear from the stage AND revealed the magic trick. Psss… it’s a secret.

17

Live a happy life.

It took us 39 and 45 years to get there. But now that we’ve come so far… it’s incredible and we are immensely thankful.

“There is freedom waiting for you, on the breezes of the sky, and you ask, ‘what if I fail?’ Oh, but my darling, what if you fly.”
